Shima Onsen Travel Guide › Forums › Shima Onsen Forum › My favorite place in the world
I stayed at Kashiwaya Ryokan during my first visit to Japan, and it is because of this place that it certainly will not be my last. We arrived a little earlier than check-in but were warmly welcomed and were offered to have our luggage stowed while we explored. The whole Shima Onsen area is so picturesque and quiet – the perfect escape from the big city. Everything offered in the ryokan was perfect: the food, rooms, beds, baths, *Wi-Fi*, and especially the staff. They were so accommodating from the moment we were greeted – even going so far as to pump the tires on the bikes that they also graciously let us use to ride up the hill to a restaurant recommended for dinner. Biking around the quiet streets of Shima Onsen at night in a yukata will always be one of my favorite memories. This place is a must-go for anyone looking for an authentic yet unique Onsen experience. There isn’t enough time in the world for me to describe just how much I enjoyed this place and how anxious and excited I am to go back.
100000/10 stars.
