We stayed 3 years ago & Ive just recommended this Onsen to my sister & her friends to visit in spring. We were there in winter. Warm hosts, beautiful rooms & delicious gourmet meals. The dinners are served in your room & our delightful server entertained us with attempts to communicate on both sides. The son of the family runs a cool cafe in the village with great coffee & lunch. Quaint village & shops & in winter the older residents are busy washing snow off the streets with hot spring fed hoses. Scenic train trip winding up through the mountains, then the character of the local bus or taxi. A truly great find with moderate pricing for a ryokan of this standard.
