My wife and I came to Shima Onsen Kashiwaya Ryokan in early April of 2019 for our honeymoon and had an absolutely amazing time. The staff made us feel right at home and were extremely kind and helpful. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Everything about our stay at the Ryokan was incredible and we would 100% return.
The surrounding area was beautiful and we had a great time exploring the little towns and temple. The Ryokan staff gave us bicycles and we rode them up to the temple in a small dusting of snow. On our way up to the temple, we saw waterfalls and tasted the various drinking onsens. It was a magical experience.
The other thing that was great about Kashiwaya Ryokan was that my wife and I were able to enjoy the onsens even though we have visible tattoos. We felt very comfortable here and I miss it already.
