Just before Daikan — the coldest day of the year according to the traditional calendar — I had the pleasure of guiding two guests from the United States.
Although the temperature was low, we were lucky to have clear skies and plenty of sunshine, making for a pleasant walk.
We had some wonderful encounters with a local woman and a traditional Japanese confectioner, and we strolled through the town’s old main street, even with the snow covering the roads.
It was definitely cold, but walking together and sharing the experience made it a truly enjoyable day for me as well.
