I had the pleasure of guiding a lovely mother and her two daughters visiting from the United States.
The sisters, who adore all things “kawaii” (cute) in Japanese culture, showed up wearing many adorable items they had found during their travels in places like Tokyo.
The father took many photos with the camera he brought, capturing the town’s unique charm.
They were staying at a long-established ryokan in Shima Onsen, said to have inspired the famous anime film
Spirited Away.
As they strolled through the town with bright smiles, they caught the attention of some locals who asked to take photos with them.
They also enjoyed taking pictures with a friendly dog at a local shop we visited along the way.
Seeing them enjoy Shima Onsen so happily made me happy as well.
