I had a lovely walk around Shima Onsen in early spring with a cheerful couple wearing matching sneakers.
They connected with a friendly local woman and enjoyed taking photos together, tasting the spring water, and trying some sweets while exploring the town.
At the old Shima Elementary School, we had an interesting conversation about the differences between Japanese and Taiwanese kanji.
It was still a bit chilly, but the clear blue sky made for a refreshing and pleasant walk.
